Facilities Support Services Assistant

An opportunity has arisen at Weymouth Hospital to join the Facilities Team as a Facilities Support Worker, with the main emphasis on Porter duties in the role

Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and able to work as part of a team and also on their own.

This position is for 15 hours per week, working 3 days one week and 2 days another. Each shift is 3pm-9.30pm, with opportunities for additional hours to cover leave.

This post is part of the Facilities & Estates Service that Dorset Healthcare may transfer to an NHS wholly owned subsidiary company, from November 2025 or later. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing, expanding, organisation with a strong commitment to NHS values and putting patients first. Main duties of the job

This is a multi tasking role focuses on Porter duties within the role, whilst supporting cleaning duties. Our facilities team members perform a vital part of our hard working team and without them the Hospital would not be able to operate.

Provision of appropriate portering services which will include the safe moving and storing of deliveries and equipment, performing routine health and safety tasks and supporting the general team in their activities.

Cleaning: Provide an effective cleaning service, to meet NHS cleanliness standards as a minimum. Working across the main hospital, emptying bins, cleaning toilets, clinic spaces, corridors and stairwells .

Catering To contribute to the delivery of Catering Services in the Hospital. Ad-hoc support to assist in the production of sandwiches/salads and deliver patient food.

Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
