Job summary

Advanced Engineering is seeking a Facilities & Services Engineer to oversee safe, reliable operation and maintenance of site infrastructure in a manufacturing setting. You will drive preventive and reactive maintenance of extraction, HVAC, compressed air, gas and water systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

You will lead reliability-focused maintenance using RCM and TPM, perform FMECA analyses, and collaborate with engineers, contractors and operations to optimise asset

Qualifications

  • Qualification in facilities engineering (HNC/HND) or mechanical engineering.
  • Electrical qualification would be an advantage.
  • Experience with reliability-based maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety systems and maintain high safety standards.
  • Maintain extraction, HVAC, compressed air, balers, gas and water distribution, and fire safety systems.
  • Develop predictive and preventive maintenance strategies based on reliability data.
  • Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams on capital projects and new technologies.
  • Lead reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and total productive maintenance (TPM) programs.
  • Prepare reports and track performance failures and improvement actions.
  • Identify new technologies to improve equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Manage overtime and staffing in line with operational requirements.

Facilities & Services Engineer

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week on a day shift

Salary: £50,174.40 plus optional overtime.

The Role

Responsible for the safe, reliable and compliant operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of critical site infrastructure and plant support services within a manufacturing environment. Experienced in the planned, preventive and reactive maintenance of extraction systems, HVAC systems, compressed air systems, industrial balers, gas distribution, water distribution and fire safety systems, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Lead reliability-focused maintenance activities by implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, conducting root cause failure analysis, FMECA and reliability assessments to minimise downtime and improve asset performance. Monitor plant facilities, identify reliability risks, and develop cost-effective engineering solutions that enhance system longevity, safety and compliance with statutory regulations.

Work collaboratively with engineering teams, contractors and operational stakeholders to support capital projects, integrate new technologies, and implement Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies. Maintain accurate maintenance records and performance reports using CMMS systems such as SAP, ensuring effective asset management and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring safety systems and practices are followed at all times, and that meaningful safety for life conversations are taking place frequently
  • Site maintenance working on extraction systems, HVAC systems, compressed air systems, industrial balers, gas distribution, water distribution and fire safety systems.
  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement appropriate predictive and preventive maintenance strategies based on reliability data to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to integrate new technologies and methods that increase reliability and performance. This may involve overseeing the implementation of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and total productive maintenance (TPM) programs.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to record findings, make recommendations and track performance failures and improvement measures.
  • Identify and propose new technologies and processes that can improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Analyse the failure modes of equipment and systems to prevent failures and downtime using FMECA and apply statistical analysis to predict future system reliability and risk of failure.
  • Work closely with other engineers and professionals to design out failure where necessary and ensure reliability and durability of new Capital Investment Projects.
  • Resourcing overtime and manning in line with operational requirements & management request
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous Experience on extraction systems, HVAC systems, compressed air systems, industrial balers, gas distribution, water distribution and fire safety systems.
  • Safety-conscious with the ability to identify potential hazards and take the necessary steps to reduce or eliminate the risk.
  • Strong understanding of facilities engineering principles, including both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with proven experience as a lead facilities engineer or similar role.
  • Relevant qualification (HNC or HND) in facilities engineering or a mechanical engineering discipline. A relevant electrical qualification would also be an advantage.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and develop cost-effective solutions to ensure optimal performance and longevity of system reliability.
  • Knowledge of compressed air systems, HVAC systems, industrial boilers, fire protection systems, transportation systems, and industrial baler systems would be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders, including contractors, vendors and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Ability to use MS office (including Word & Excel) and a understanding of CMMS systems (ideally SAP)
