About the role

Are you someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in creating safe, welcoming spaces, and loves working behind the scenes to make a real impact?

Our Facilities team plays a vital role in keeping our offices, grounds, and car parks running smoothly, ensuring everything from building services and maintenance to office support is delivered to a high standard. We’re all about creating a great workplace experience for our colleagues.

We’re now looking for a Facilities Services Assistant to join us at our Northumbria House office in Durham. While your base will be in Durham, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit other sites across the North East to support our internal teams and work with our trusted framework contractors.

We’re on the lookout for a proactive and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Facilities Services Assistant. In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll be the first point of contact for a wide range of help desk requests. You’ll need to interpret each request, think on your feet, and use your problem-solving skills to deliver timely and effective solutions. Along the way, you’ll keep our internal systems updated, maintain clear communication with colleagues, and track any associated costs to help us manage our budgets effectively.

If you’re practical, proactive, and people-focused, this could be the role for you.

About you

Strong communication skills are key, as you’ll be working closely with both internal teams and external contractors to ensure everything runs smoothly and our colleagues enjoy a positive workplace experience. The role also includes reception and switchboard duties, so we’re looking for someone with a friendly, confident approach who can provide excellent service in a fast-paced office environment.

Flexibility and initiative are a must, you’ll often be working independently and need to adapt quickly to changing priorities. You should also be comfortable handling data, particularly in Excel, and confident using pivot tables to generate clear and accurate monthly reports.

As travel between sites may be required, a full and valid manual (gear box) driving licence is essential, as you’ll be using one of our pool cars.
