Job summary

Bedford Girls’ School is seeking an Estates and Facilities Assistant to support the Estates and Facilities Supervisor. The role involves maintaining premises to high standards, conducting health and safety checks, and assisting with furniture movement and minor repairs.

A collaborative approach and hands-on trade skills are essential. The successful candidate will participate in set ups for assemblies, exams, dining, and events, and will act as a keyholder for after-hours security and safety

Qualifications

• Teamworking skills and collaborative approach to achieve common goals.
• Hands-on trade skills with some knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
• Ability to adapt to different tasks that may be required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine building repairs and maintenance duties not requiring a certified craftsperson (e.g. minor carpentry, re-decorating, re-tiling, unblocking sinks, replacing light fittings/bulbs, repairing door locks).
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for assemblies, exams, dining, events.
• Act as a registered site keyholder for out-of-hours intruder/fire alarm activations on a rostered callout basis.
