Job summary

Bedford Girls’ School is seeking a proactive Estates Manager to lead the safe, efficient operation and development of the school estate, including the Junior and Senior Schools and associated properties. You will work with the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure facilities support teaching, safeguarding and the school’s commercial activity, while building a capable Estates Team.

The role is full-time and on-site with a competitive salary (£46,000–£52,000), and includes a broad benefits

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day estates services, maintenance desk, cleaning and security.
• Coordinate compliance: fire safety, asbestos, legionella and electrical/gas safety.
• Support capital projects: tendering, contractor oversight, budgets and handover.
• Prepare and monitor estates budgets with the DFO; report variances and risks.
• Lead and develop the Estates Team, setting standards for safety and service.
