Are you passionate about keeping buildings running smoothly and safely? Dorset Council is seeking a proactive and reliable Facilities Officer to support the day-to-day operations of our diverse estate. You'll play a key role in ensuring our buildings are secure, compliant, and welcoming for staff and visitors alike.
What you'll be doing As a Facilities Officer, you'll be at the heart of our operational estate, helping to ensure our buildings are safe, functional, and well-maintained. Your day-today duties will include:
- Undertaking statutory compliance checks (water hygiene, fire safety, emergency lighting).
- Assisting with Health and Safety inspections.
- Assisting with building security, including opening/closing duties and be part of a standby rota for emergency call-outs.
- Supporting fire safety procedures, including alarm tests and evacuation drills.
- Supporting the management of the ID access badge and other secure access systems.
- Assist with incoming and outgoing mail.
- Supporting office moves and relocations.
- Act as a designated first aider (training provided).
About you You're a dependable and hands-on individual who takes pride in maintaining safe and efficient environments. You enjoy practical work, are comfortable working independently, and can respond calmly to urgent situations. You'll bring:
- A proactive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A flexible approach to working across multiple sites
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel (vehicle provided)
- A commitment to health, safety, and service excellence
