Job description

Cleanliness, hygiene, catering, and food safety in healthcare environments are paramount. We are seeking to appoint staff who are ambitious, motivated, and take pride in their work.

We are looking to recruit a hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join our Catering Team at Hollins Park Hospital, Warrington, Winwick. WA2 8WA.

While the location and service group may differ, the role of the Facilities Management Catering Assistant (FMCA) remains an integral part of our service delivery. The role involves carrying out facilities and catering tasks, ensuring high standards are achieved and maintained.

The successful candidate will perform a range of catering and general duties within a mental health inpatient environment, following set procedures and standards. They will also operate our catering van to outer units.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Delivering food & equipment to outer units using our refrigerated van, covering for the regular driver.
  2. Ensuring relevant documentation, such as monitoring forms and delivery checks, are completed and filed, taking corrective action when necessary.
  3. Loading frozen food into a regeneration oven.
  4. Distributing meals, provisions, and equipment within the department.
  5. Clearing customer meal items, e.g., crockery, cutlery, and food waste from the café area.
  6. Performing general cleaning tasks following departmental policies and procedures.
  7. Working flexibly according to duty rotas, including evenings and weekends.
  8. Standing in for other FMCA’s as required.
  9. Communicating effectively with ward teams and other disciplines.
  10. Assisting in other catering department areas as needed, which may involve travel to other Mersey Care sites.
  11. Cleaning all areas associated with the catering department, such as work surfaces.
  12. Practicing good hygiene and health & safety standards in line with current Food Safety and Health & Safety Legislation.
