Position: Facilities/Maintenance Technician

Location: Labman HQ, Seamer, North Yorkshire

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

Job Opportunity

Due to continued growth, Labman are seeking to add a Facilities / Maintenance Technician to our existing maintenance team.

The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. There could be call outs from time to time.

Role Responsibilities

Multi-skilled maintenance technician required who will be responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks to keep building facilities running smoothly and efficiently.

Duties include repairing and maintaining building systems (plumbing, electrical, etc.), conducting preventative maintenance activities, responding to maintenance requests, identifying and resolving safety hazards, and keeping detailed records of maintenance activities.

The technician should have excellent problem solving, communication, and organisational skills, with a focus on long-term career development, we are looking for someone with leadership potential to grow within the organisation.

Key tasks

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
  • Planned maintenance as scheduled (fire alarm tests, emergency lighting tests, equipment maintenance etc.).
  • Overseeing contractors
  • Performing maintenance tasks (Painting, reactive repairs etc.).
  • Minor plumbing, electrical work, and repairs to building fabric.
  • Waste management activities
  • Groundwork maintenance, confident with the use and basic maintenance of both hand and mechanical machinery e.g. hedge cutters, mower, strimmer’s etc.
  • Providing updates to colleagues, ensuring they are made aware of scheduled tasks and progress in a timely manner.
  • Reporting and resolving deficiencies to avoid faults and risks to health and safety.
  • Production support
  • Expected to be proactive in continual site/building improvement

Essential Capabilities

  • Previous experience in a similar caretaker or facilities role is preferred.
  • Able to take on most, if not all, building tradesman’s activities
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Strong planning and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Driving licence is essential
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Efficient organisational skills
  • Maintenance planning and project management
  • Delegate and specify works for sub-contractors
  • Passion and enthusiasm for their work
  • Computer literate
