Job Description:

The role

We have a great opportunity for a maintenance person based at our Shawbury site near Shrewsbury in Shropshire. This role will support our small Facilities team with preventative and reactive maintenance across all areas of the site.

Every day is different, you get to interact and support employees and departments across the business covering aspects such as site safety, common repairs, and maintenance. This can be a busy and demanding role so it is essential that you are able to manage and prioritize activities to meet the needs of the business.

If you enjoy problem solving, being hands on and have a passion for fixing things, then this role would be ideal for you.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assessing common repair and maintenance situations and ensuring root causes are identified.
  • Applying logical thinking and practical knowledge to choose appropriate tools and methods for tasks.
  • Organising yourself and tasks efficiently to ensure business needs are met.
  • Actively ensuring that the appropriate contractors are selected, inducted to site and ensuring they deliver a safe service
  • Communicating effectively and giving progress updates to employees and business leaders

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold basic plumbing skills, woodwork skills, painting/decorating, and general repairs
  • You will need to be a strong team player, have a methodical approach and have the ability to plan, organise and manage your own workload.
  • Be able to identify and use common tools (including power tools), materials, and components, and have the ability to use them safely and appropriately for standard tasks.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skill's
  • Be computer literate – particularly in Excel and Word
  • Ideally (but not essential) hold qualification for forklift truck
  • Be confident with working at height and using ladders
  • Have an excellent 'can-do' attitude
  • Have the ability to work under their own initiative

Preferred Experience

The below experience is preferred but not essential:

  • 2 years of experience working in a maintenance role
  • Level 2 apprenticeship or higher within a relevant subject (for example plumbing, property maintenance, carpentry)
