  • Contractor Management: Establish and maintain a local network of reliable contractors for larger maintenance tasks. Ensure contractors follow RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) and PTW (Permit to Work) processes.
  • Scheduled Maintenance: Plan and schedule routine maintenance to prevent any disruptions to the facility’s operation, keeping communication lines open with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Building Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance of the building and its infrastructure to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Logistics Management: Control and implement goods in and stock control procedures, as well as run the warehouse and workshop areas effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Hands-on Experience: Proven experience in facilities maintenance, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Technical Skills: Qualified to undertake basic electrical and plumbing tasks to ensure the smooth running of the facility.
  • Contractor Management: Experience working with contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including RAMS and PTW processes.
  • Controls Experience (Advantageous): Familiarity with controls systems and their application in a facilities maintenance context.
  • Problem-Solving Attitude: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a "can-do" attitude to ensure the facility runs without disruption.

Role-Specific Qualifications/Certifications

  • Experience in facilities maintenance and operations, particularly in a technical environment.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with HVAC equipment, facility systems, and laboratory infrastructure.
  • A strong team player who can collaborate effectively with both technical and scientific professionals.
