We have an exciting vacancy to join our Liverpool Plant.

Key accountabilities, deliverables & KPIs, impact on business results

Within the Facilities Dept, we have created a day-based Facilities Maintenance Engineer role. The role primarily focuses on maintenance, improvements, and projects to enhance site performance and sustainability linked to facilities. This involves analyzing loss data, supporting improvement plans, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and liaising with external contractors to deliver maintenance improvements and projects. The role also supports the facilities department, including liaising with outsourced hard and soft FM site service teams, reactive and planned maintenance as required.

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is part of a team responsible for maintenance and improvements of facilities engineering services across the site. The role is key in driving maintenance, utilities management, and local projects, both revenue & Capex related, and ensuring compliance with standards such as HV, PSSR, Electrical, LOLER, LEGIONELLA, etc.

This position is vital for the future success of Nutricia Liverpool as it continues to grow within Danone's Specialised Nutrition division.

  • Analyze and translate safety and quality risks, contribute to action plans, and coordinate improvement projects/programmes.
  • Deliver results related to maintenance and improvements based on facilities performance data.
  • Support maintenance documentation and process implementation on site.
  • Motivate and engage cross-functional operation teams.
  • Ensure support and commitment within the facilities department.
  • Assist with breakdowns and maintenance activities.
  • Be a key knowledge holder for facilities assets.
  • Ensure compliance with RCA process for accurate data capture.
  • Set objective-based targets for improvement projects.
  • Adhere to Danone rules and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with budget, CAPEX, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with security and safety protocols.
  • Monitor safety and quality risk scores.
  • Participate in audits such as ISO 9001, 14001, 22001, and FDA.
  • Support service providers.
  • Complete any reasonable requests to achieve departmental and business objectives.
  • Coordinate with all functions for 'out of hour' plant maintenance.
  • Deliver planned shutdowns and statutory work aligned with production needs.
  • Support facilities structure and KPI delivery.
About you
  • Prepare improvement and maintenance programmes documentation.
  • Possess multidisciplinary skills in Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic disciplines.
  • Have previous experience within Food/FMCG sectors with high standards.
  • Be familiar with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Know main facilities equipment and utilities and their characteristics.
  • Have knowledge of SAP.
  • Take ownership and lead maintenance plans ensuring completion and sign-off.

Critical experience required

  • HNC qualified engineer with facilities experience.
  • Experience in engineering/maintenance engineering in FMCG, pharmaceutical, automotive, or food manufacturing industries.
  • Last role level: mechanical/electrical engineer.
  • Qualified to HNC level in mechanical, electrical, or dual discipline.
  • Experience with TPM is advantageous.
  • Ability to define problems clearly and follow through to resolution, using technical knowledge and ingenuity.
  • Experience in developing strategic contractor partnerships.
  • Functional skills such as plumbing, electrical work, joinery, building repairs, plastering (training provided if needed).
  • Involvement in safety programs like WISE and management principles.
  • Knowledge of steam boilers, HVAC systems, water treatment, DHW, and LPHW systems.
  • Experience in large cross-functional projects and managing site project portfolios.
  • Knowledge of Lean tools such as SMED, AM/PM, Focus Improvement, Lean Design.
  • Participation in cross-functional teams at plant level.
  • Technical competencies in electrical installation, thermodynamics, and building maintenance.
  • Ability to deliver and meet plant-level budget targets.
  • Manage facilities projects and improvement plans, both internal and external benchmarks.
  • Completed compliance training.
