Facilities Maintenance Engineer

  • Chelmsford, Essex
  • £40,000 - £54,000 total package - basic salary + shift allowance + call out allowance + excellent bens.

A leading provider of sophisticated electronic components, instruments & communications products is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to be a part of the plant maintenance team.

You will be responsible for undertaking essential preventative maintenance tasks within the group to ensure the facility and all plant are maintained effectively in terms of statutory requirements including health and safety, cost, quality, and delivery in support of the overall business strategy.

Key Accountabilities – Facilities Maintenance Engineer

  • Provide strong, professional knowledge and technical ability to maintain the existing plant and equipment required for the needs of the business.
  • Provide technical support and quality service to other areas of the business.
  • Maintain an effective facilities commitment by working a shift cover scheme for maintenance functions for out of hours tasks and breakdowns.
  • Manage and control allocated Preventative Maintenance tasks on plant, maximizing utilization and ensuring any potential risks are identified, managed, and proactively communicated to internal customers.
  • Ensure all statutory/legal maintenance tasks adhere to company procedures, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure controls/alarms/service agreements are maintained with subcontract suppliers, ensuring adherence to agreed costs and compliance with company procedures.

Skills and Knowledge Required – Facilities Maintenance Engineer

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a Facilities maintenance role is essential, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work shifts consisting of a rolling programme of five 10 hour days on and three days off.
  • Knowledge and experience of Preventative Maintenance.
  • Minimum of NVQ (3) or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering is essential.
