JOB TITLE: FACILITIES LEAD TECHNICIAN

REPORTS INTO: REGIONAL ENGINEERING MANAGER UK

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Lead Facilities Technician manages and performs routine reactive and preventative maintenance tasks across fields such as electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and fabric repairs. Leading a multi-skilled team, you will deliver daily support to ensure smooth facilities operations and provide exceptional customer service at client sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager, Regional Engineering Manager, and on-site team to complete planned, reactive, and preventative tasks.
  2. Oversee site technicians and planning schedulers to meet or exceed service level agreements.
  3. Ensure all team members are trained to meet legal requirements and collaborate on cross-training for team backup.
  4. Maintain records as required by operational, regulatory, and statutory standards.
  5. Adhere to the Maintenance Management system to meet service level agreements.
  6. Ensure maintenance activities are carried out per Standard Operating Procedures to maximize plant availability.
  7. Provide technical support for projects and assist in project delivery.
  8. Undertake small installations, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  9. Maintain documentation for fire safety systems and other building systems.
  10. Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including locks, doors, and other restorative procedures.
  11. Complete work orders in accordance with company processes and systems.
  12. Provide regular reports on engineering activities as required.
  13. Coordinate with contractors and vendors, conducting risk assessments and following safety protocols.
  14. Utilize internal systems to track work requests and close out actions per service agreements.
  15. Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers through various channels.
  16. Collaborate to solve problems professionally and service-focused.
  17. Recommend innovations and leverage technologies to improve site performance and maintenance practices.
  18. Follow health and safety measures, promote best practices, and wear PPE when required.
  19. Support sustainability initiatives to reduce utility consumption.

WORKING LIFE:

  • Work across large office sites daily.
  • English is the main language; proficiency is essential.
  • Work on a shift basis over a 5-day week, including occasional weekends, late shifts, or bank holidays, scheduled in advance.
  • Be available for on-call duties in rotation.
  • Attend emergency callouts as needed.
  • Potentially work at other sites within the same campus on a permanent basis.

ABOUT YOU:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a multi-skilled building services maintenance role.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently, and collaborate effectively.
  • Interest or experience in facilities management and customer service trends.
  • Strong communication skills and a drive for excellence.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, with an interest in technology.
  • Adaptability to changing requests and projects.
  • Technical qualifications or trade licenses, such as electrical or mechanical certifications, are preferred.
