Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Engineer to join our customer’s dynamic Facilities & Maintenance team at the Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory (APRL), located at the University of Warwick in Coventry. This is a contract position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve reactive equipment breakdowns, implementing long-term solutions.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on test equipment and facility systems.
  • Support a wide range of test technologies including:
  • Engine and vehicle dynamometers
  • HVAC systems
  • Fluid and gas conditioning systems
  • Safety-critical monitoring systems
  • Power distribution infrastructure
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure safe and efficient operations aligned with SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People) and environmental standards.
  • Record and analyse fault data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an Engine or Vehicle Test environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to support improvement projects and adapt to business needs.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotational shift pattern.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • : Level 4–5 qualification or equivalent experience
