Job summary

Capita is hiring for a Caretaker/Janitor at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre. This 40-hour week role is primarily cleaning, with potential travel to other sites where a driving licence and vehicle are preferred. You will provide a full cleaning service to the facility, including reactive and planned works.

Responsibilities include window cleans, grounds maintenance, waste collection, stock control, and training other staff. Prior experience in secure facilities is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance/cleaning role.
• Experience working within a secure facility.
• Basic ICT, electrical and mechanical skills.
• Hold a current clean driving licence.
• Flexible regarding working hours.
• Police vetting requires 3+ years in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full cleaning service (planned, reactive and specialist) to the secure facility.
• Undertake monthly internal and external window/w frame cleaning.
• Maintain grounds and gardens (planting, mowing, weeding).
• Collect waste and manage site waste points.
• Maintain stock levels of consumables and equipment.
• Train and direct other staff in caretaking duties.
