Job summary

The Find a Job Service from the Department for Work and Pensions is recruiting a Caretaker in Maesteg on a temporary basis (1–2 months). The role is hands-on and focused on keeping premises safe, secure, and well maintained.

You will open/close the site, carry out safety checks, assist with basic maintenance, and support contractors. DBS check is required unless already on the Update Service. Pay is £14.32 per hour for 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site support experience.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Opening, closing, and securing the premises.
• Carrying out weekly and monthly safety checks (Fire alarms, doors, extinguishers, emergency lighting).
• Carrying out water flushing procedures for Legionella prevention.
• Waste collection and disposal.
• Undertaking minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Providing access and support to contractors when required.
• Ensuring the site remains safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
