Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is seeking a Facilities Assistant to join the Estates team. The role is part-time (35 hours per week) with base on City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre, or Ropewalk House, and a salary of £25,272 per annum.

You will perform catering and cleaning duties, ensure hygiene and infection control standards, and support patient care while working within the Trust’s policies and rotas. The post emphasises dignity, communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 1/2 in cleaning or catering (food hygiene).
• Good Basic Education with reading, writing and numeracy.
• Experience in catering or cleaning services.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety including COSHH and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate response to cleaning requests.
• Coordinate with Ward Team and Facilities Team Leader.
• Maintain cleaning standards and infection control practices.
• Protect patient dignity and privacy at all times.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely and order stock.
• Assist with ordering food and liaise with dieticians to meet nutrition needs.
