Job description

Job Title: Facilities and Compliance Manager (RHS Garden Bridgewater)

Salary: Circa £39K per annum

Hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hours) including occasional evenings and weekends (with some hybrid/flexible working)

Contract: Permanent

Overview of the Role:

RHS Garden Bridgewater is the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) fifth garden and has been open to visitors since 2021. As the nation's leading gardening charity, the RHS takes pride in ensuring all of its five gardens showcase excellence in horticulture and inspire generations of people to garden and grow. The garden welcomes over 500,000 visitors per year, and is renowned for being a tranquil green space on the outskirts of Salford.

We are looking for a Facilities and Compliance Manager to oversee the maintenance of all the site's buildings and infrastructure, as well as ensuring we are fully compliant in all systems and procedures around building and equipment design and use.

The role will involve the day-to-day management of a small team of Facilities staff, plus regular management of maintenance contractors and service providers, to ensure contracts meet the needs of the garden and deliver best value for money.

Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential for this role, along with previous experience of effectively managing a small team of people. The successful candidate will be a member of the Site Management Team and therefore must be able to liaise effectively with a diverse range of staff at all levels.

To work for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is to join a thriving charity, whose mission is to be there for everyone on their lifelong adventure with gardening. Everything we do is built on the transformational power of gardening - and the benefits it brings to people, places and our planet.

And we couldn't do this without our people. We're proud of the knowledge, enthusiasm and ideas that each one of our team members, including volunteers, brings. From working across our social media channels, to volunteering in the RHS Gardens, from serving customers in our garden centres to running national marketing campaigns, we believe that every member of the RHS team should have the opportunity to make a difference.

Safeguarding and Inclusion

The RHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expects all personnel to share in this commitment. We are an inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
