Facade Technician

London or Manchester

Salary up to £80,000 + Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Pension

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy that provides expert services in surveying, engineering, project management, and fire safety across England and Wales. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a talented Façade Technician to join their highly skilled façade and engineering team.

The role of a Facade Technician

As a Facade Technician, you will play a crucial role in investigating, assessing, and overseeing the construction of façade and cladding systems. You will work closely with project management and cost management teams, contributing to high-profile façade remediation and replacement projects.


Key Responsibilities of the Facade Technician

  1. Conduct intrusive investigations of existing buildings, including coordinating opening-up works, sampling, and material testing.
  2. Assess the configuration and material composition of external wall systems, identifying insulation types, fire breaks, and compliance risks.
  3. Provide expert advice on compliance and risk factors associated with external wall systems.
  4. Collect and analyze site investigation data to support FRAEW and Building Regulations compliance.
  5. Monitor construction works, ensuring compliance with contract conditions, best practices, and legislative requirements.
  6. Perform technical and quality assurance audits, tender reviews, RFIs, and due diligence assessments.
  7. Prepare high-quality reports and provide technical guidance to project teams.
  8. Inspect and oversee cladding remediation projects, delivering clear and concise monitoring reports.

Requirements of the Facade Technician

  1. 5+ years of relevant industry experience within a consultancy or engineering firm.
  2. 3+ years' experience in a role involving external wall/façade construction analysis or inspection.
  3. A degree in Building, Engineering, or a related field (or membership of a relevant professional organisation).
  4. Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, fire safety measures, and building regulations.
  5. Proven experience in reviewing designs, construction documentation, and resolving technical issues.
  6. Ability to conduct contractor audits, due diligence assessments, and tender reviews.
  7. Excellent report writing and communication skills.
