Jensen Hughes is hiring a Fire Engineer (External Wall Assessments) to join their UK team, based in Manchester. This role focuses on critical fire engineering tasks to enhance fire safety in residential buildings following regulatory changes.

The successful candidate will conduct reviews of external wall constructions, perform on-site inspections, and provide comprehensive reports. A strong understanding of fire safety regulations and passive fire protection is essential. Optional benefits include private medical insurance and a contributory pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of passive fire protection products and fire testing.
• Experience performing intrusive surveys on high‑rise residential and office buildings.
• Ability to manage your own workload and client base.

Responsibilities

• Perform reviews of architectural drawings and building regulations.
• Conduct on-site intrusive surveys and inspections.
• Produce detailed reports outlining assessments and strategy.

Skills

Knowledge of facades and building envelope systems

Knowledge of construction methods

Knowledge of passive fire protection products

Experience with external wall surveys

Ability to read architectural drawings

Ability to author technical reports

Understanding of fire safety design legislation

Knowledge of refurbishment schemes

Ability to work at heights

Understanding of report writing in Microsoft Word
