Job summary

Stantec is seeking a technically minded Facade Engineer to develop your career on complex building envelope projects. The role is based in Bristol, Reading or London, with a mix of site and office work within a growing UK facade team.

As a facade engineer you will contribute to design, analysis and review of facade systems from concept to construction, working with architects, contractors and suppliers to deliver compliant, high‑performing solutions across the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in facade engineering, structural engineering, or building envelope design.
• Good understanding of facade systems, materials, and construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of facade structural behaviour, load paths, movement, and interface detailing.
• Experience producing engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, or specifications.
• Understanding of UK building regulations and façade related standards and guidance.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit and engineering analysis software is beneficial.
• Thermal engineering knowledge relating to thermal bridging, condensation risk, heat flow, and facade performance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design the future of building facades from concept through construction.
• Support delivery of safe, compliant, and high‑performing facade solutions.
• Undertake structural analysis, considering loads, movements and system behaviour.
• Carry out thermal bridging and U‑value assessments in line with regulations.
• Prepare technical drawings, details, specifications and reports; review contractor submissions.
• Attend site visits to review workmanship and design implementation.
