Job description

Our client is a large, employee-owned consulting practice, highly regarded for their forensic investigations for the built environment. Their London office, the headquarters for their work in the UK and mainland Europe, offers an opportunity to apply your existing expertise in a sector that is consistent, intriguing, and varied. It would suit a senior facade engineer looking for a move up or an associate seeking change and future prospects.

Your Role: You will identify the root causes of problems affecting facades, including design shortfalls, material issues, structural failures, and unsuitable construction methodologies. You will then recommend the necessary mitigation. An external consultant will carry out the design, and you will peer review their work and provide technical advice during construction stages. Close support and guidance will be provided, allowing you to apply your skills from a new and intriguing perspective. Occasional national and international travel will be required.

The Company: Employee-owned, with over five hundred staff, they have decades of expertise in forensic engineering, design, repair, and research. They are leaders in façade engineering, building physics, architecture, and conservation. Their forensic engineering and repair capabilities are supported by in-house laboratories, testing, and research facilities. They have low staff turnover and are highly regarded by clients and employees. A robust, profitable sector in continuous demand, they are not constrained by tendering and frameworks that affect mainstream consulting engineering. This employer offers progression and security throughout economic cycles.

Your Profile: A façade engineer with at least six years of design experience. Good analytical and lateral thinking skills are essential. You should be degree qualified, with a 2:1 or above, and ideally be chartered with the IStructE, ICE, or RIBA.
