Job description

Fabricator / Welder

Location: Wem, Shropshire

Salary: A£15 - A£18 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (flexible to suit)

Our client is a small, family-run business based in Wem, Shropshire.

The Role

Due to an increased workload, they are seeking a mechanically minded, competent Fabricator / Welder with at least 5 years proven experience to join their friendly, committed team in the fabricating and manufacturing of recycling equipment and associated steelworks.

Due to the nature of the environment, they are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for fabrication and welding and an appetite for mechanical engineering. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the installation of heavy plant machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Bespoke Fabrication from drawings - e.g. conveyors, trommels, access platforms, walkways, safety rails, stairs etc.
  2. Welding (MMA/MIG/Stick)
  3. Cutting, Drilling, Grinding
  4. General mechanical duties to assist other engineering staff when required
  5. Maintaining a safe and tidy workplace and reporting any faults/hazards, in accordance with Company Health and Safety requirements
  6. Varied workload weekly within a small and friendly team

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Competent MIG / MMA Fabrication and Welding Skills with at least 5 years proven experience
  2. Level 3 NVQ minimum qualification in Fabrication and Welding
  3. Must be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  4. Candidates must have a keen eye for detail, take pride in their workmanship and ensure work is carried out to specification
  5. Be able to measure and cut materials accurately
  6. Adhere to health and safety procedures
  7. Able to work on their own initiative or within a small, committed team
  8. Mechanical skills
  9. Fitting and installation experience desirable
  10. Fork lift license highly desirable
