Job description

Fabricator/Welder – Derbyshire

Location: Derbyshire
Contract: 3 Months Temp to Perm
Rate: £18 p/h (PAYE) + Overtime Rates
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 39 hours/week (6:00 AM – 4:15 PM or 7:00 AM – 5:15 PM, 30-minute unpaid break)
Overtime: X1.33 (Mon-Thu), X1.5 (Fri & Sat), X2 (Sun)

This leading engineering company specialises in designing and manufacturing special purpose machinery for the power generation sector. Their work includes noise reduction enclosures for gas turbines, bespoke engine test cells, and large-scale fabricated structures for global clients. Projects range from compact units to massive structures up to 20 metres long and 10 metres high, incorporating exhaust systems, lighting, and access gantries.

With a client base including Rolls Royce, Siemens, and National Grid, the company is growing its aftermarket services and exploring new markets to complement its traditional turbine enclosure work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate metal components to precise specifications from engineering drawings.

  • Measure, cut, bend, and shape metals using presses, shears, rollers, and other fabrication tools.

  • Work with a range of materials, including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Cromweld, and Chromalloy.

  • Carry out mechanical fitting, ensuring components are correctly assembled.

  • Apply plating or surface finishes (where applicable).

  • Conduct quality checks to ensure fabricated parts meet required standards.

  • Maintain fabrication tools and equipment for safety and efficiency.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience in metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, and assembly.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.

  • Experience working with a variety of metals.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

  • Desirable: Experience in plating and surface finishing.
