Job summary

NES Fircroft in Plymouth is seeking a Fabricator (Composite Manufacturing) to join our engineering team on permanent, full‑time basis. You’ll support production of high‑quality composite components using lamination, vacuum infusion, and other fabrication processes.

We’re looking for hands‑on experience in composite fabrication, laminating, GRP or fibreglass manufacturing, with the ability to read engineering drawings and work safely in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in composite fabrication, laminating, GRP or fibreglass manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of composite materials, resins, reinforcements, and associated consumables.
• Commitment to health and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare moulds, materials, and consumables for production activities.
• Carry out composite fabrication including hand lay-up, wet lamination, and vacuum infusion.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, drill, fit, and finish components.
• Assemble composite parts and sub-assemblies per drawings and specs.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and coating via sanding, filling, masking and cleaning.
• Work to production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Maintain production records and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
• Keep a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Fabricators to join a growing manufacturing team in Plymouth, supporting the production of high-quality composite components using advanced fabrication techniques including lamination, vacuum infusion, and composite manufacturing processes. This role is ideal for individuals with composite manufacturing experience or those looking to develop specialist skills within a structured and safety-focused engineering environment. You'll work on complex, high-value products while receiving ongoing training and development opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing moulds, materials, and consumables for production activities
• Carrying out composite fabrication processes including hand lay-up, wet lamination, and vacuum infusion

What We're Looking For

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment
