Job Title: Fabrication Workshop Manager

Location: Grimsby

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:45am – 4:45pm, Friday: 7.45am – 3:45pm (excluding bank holidays)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fabrication Workshop Manager to join our senior management team to oversee our engineering workshop. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on background in sheet metal work, with the ability to read engineering drawings. Experience in 2D CAD would be an advantage but not necessary. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a commitment to quality as well as health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the workshop daily, ensuring all equipment, doors, and premises are secure
  • Supervise and coordinate workshop engineers, assigning work from worksheets and drawings
  • Issue PPE and monitor its usage
  • Manage timesheets, attendance, and staff communication
  • Conduct weekly health & safety inspections in conjunction with the H&S manager
  • Order and manage stock supplies, materials, and consumables
  • Organise servicing for workshop equipment and machinery
  • Liaise with suppliers
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs and servicing
  • Collaborate with management on planning, production deadlines, and engineering requirements
  • Monitor manufacturing quality, precision, and timescales
  • Liaise with clients and engineers to allocate resources effectively
  • Assist with training schedules and apprenticeships
  • Address and resolve workshop issues, including team disputes, with management support

Key Attributes:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in sheet metal work and engineering
  • Proven recent experience in a similar role is a must
  • Problem Solver and Self Starter able to work on own initiative
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Basic IT skills (email, Word, Excel)
  • Positive attitude and motivational leadership skills
  • Knowledge of health & safety procedures
