Job summary

SVC Technical in Halstead is seeking a Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead a heavy engineering workshop, ensuring safe, efficient production of structural parts. You will manage schedules, quality, and continuous improvement across multiple fabrication streams.

You will oversee welding, fabrication, and assembly activities, mentor apprentices, and drive right‑first‑time manufacturing while maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Essential: strong fabrication and welding background in heavy engineering.
• Experience in supervising workshops and coordinating multi‑discipline teams.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of MIG welding and structural fabrication.
• Experience managing production schedules and workshop KPIs.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily fabrication operations and manage workshop activities.
• Coordinate welding, fabrication, assembly, and sub‑assembly to meet production schedules.
• Monitor production flow to meet build targets and delivery deadlines.
• Allocate labour and resources across multiple fabrication areas.
• Mentor fabricators, welders, and workshop operatives; conduct toolbox talks.
