Job summary

Adecco is recruiting a Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead operations in a busy manufacturing environment in Gosfield. You will oversee fabrication, welding and assembly activities, ensure high-quality production, and drive efficiency across the workshop.

You will deliver production targets, maintain safety standards, and develop a high-performing team while supporting ongoing business growth through lean improvements, capacity planning and KPI monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in fabrication and welding within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of MIG welding and structural fabrication.
  • Experience managing production schedules and KPIs.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily fabrication and production activities to meet delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate welding, fabrication, and assembly operations.
  • Monitor workflow and ensure build targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Allocate labour and resources effectively across the workshop.
  • Drive improvements in productivity and output.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of fabricators, welders, and operatives.
  • Conduct regular team briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Manage performance, attendance, and training needs.
  • Support development of multi-skilled teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and procedures.
  • Promote safe working practices including PPE and equipment.
  • Carry out inspections and support quality control processes.
  • Drive right-first-time manufacturing and reduce rework.
  • Identify and implement process and workflow improvements.
  • Monitor key performance metrics.

Fabrication Workshop Manager

Location: Gosfield

Hours: 7:30am - 4pm, Monday - Friday

Salary: £30- £40k DOE

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead operations within a busy manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing fabrication activities, ensuring high-quality production, and driving efficiency across the workshop.

You will play a key role in delivering production targets, maintaining safety standards, and developing a high-performing team, while supporting ongoing business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Production Management
  • Oversee daily fabrication and production activities to meet delivery schedules
  • Coordinate welding, fabrication, and assembly operations
  • Monitor workflow and ensure build targets and deadlines are achieved
  • Allocate labour and resources effectively across the workshop
  • Drive improvements in productivity and output
Team Leadership
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of fabricators, welders, and operatives
  • Conduct regular team briefings and toolbox talks
  • Manage performance, attendance, and training needs
  • Support development of multi-skilled teams and mentor junior staff
Health & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and procedures
  • Promote safe working practices including use of PPE and equipment
  • Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the workshop
Quality & Standards
  • Ensure all work meets engineering specifications and quality requirements
  • Carry out inspections and support quality control processes
  • Work collaboratively to resolve fabrication issues
  • Drive right-first-time manufacturing and reduce rework
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement process and workflow improvements
  • Reduce downtime, waste, and inefficiencies
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Monitor key performance metrics
Equipment & Maintenance
  • Ensure fabrication equipment and machinery are maintained and operational
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
  • Manage tooling, consumables, and material requirements
Planning & Communication
  • Liaise with internal teams including engineering, planning, and production
  • Provide updates on progress and production status
  • Support production planning and capacity management
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong background in fabrication and welding within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of MIG welding and structural fabrication
  • Experience managing production schedules and KPIs
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices

Desirable:

  • Experience within vehicle, trailer, or heavy engineering manufacturing
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
  • Relevant fabrication or welding qualifications
