Job summary

Precise Recruitment Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to oversee daily fabrication and welding activities in a Birmingham-based role. The successful candidate will lead a skilled workshop team, interpret engineering drawings and ensure production is completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising fabrication/welding teams in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient in MIG and/or TIG welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Supervise welders, fabricators and workshop operatives.
• Plan and allocate daily workloads across the fabrication department.
• Ensure production targets and customer deadlines are achieved.
• Monitor workmanship and maintain high quality standards.
• Interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Provide practical support with complex fabrication and welding work.
• Ensure materials, tooling and equipment are available when required.
• Monitor productivity, downtime, waste and rework.
• Carry out quality inspections on completed components.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Train, support and develop members of the fabrication team.
• Work closely with production, engineering and quality departments.
• Report progress, issues and performance to management.

• Experience with MIG and/or TIG welding.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes and quality standards.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage workloads and meet production deadlines.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
• Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium would be advantageous.
• A recognised welding, fabrication or engineering qualification would be beneficial.
