Job summary

Moughton Engineering Ltd is seeking a Fabrication Quality Inspector to join the Quality Department. You will inspect in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies, read fabrication drawings, and use measurement tools to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Strong IT skills in Excel/Word are required. You will work primarily in the fabrication shop with some inspections in other departments, contributing to traceability and quality records while supporting process improvements

Responsibilities

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of fabrications and sub-assemblies throughout manufacture.
• Verify products comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Maintain product traceability and inspection records.
• Produce inspection reports and raise non-conformance reports where required.
• Work closely with Department Supervisors, Project Engineers, and the Quality team to ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Encourage positive and open discussions around quality issues, safety, and process improvements.
• Make recommendations to improve manufacturing processes and inspection methods where opportunities are identified.

Moughton Engineering are looking to recruit the following –

Fabrication Quality Inspector

As a Fabrication Quality Inspector, you will play a key role within the Quality Department, checking and monitoring in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with documented specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role involves inspecting work primarily within the fabrication shop, with occasional inspections in other departments across the company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in fabrication inspection, preferably within a manufacturing & Oil & Gas environment.

You will be able to read and interpret technical fabrication drawings and specifications and have experience using measuring and inspection equipment to verify dimensional accuracy against tight tolerances. A strong understanding of product traceability, quality requirements, and manufacturing processes is essential.

Good IT skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, to produce clear and concise inspection reports, accurately recording results and highlighting any actual or potential non‑conformances.

The above position offers a 38 hour salaried week (early finish on a Friday), 23 days annual holiday allowance, excluding Bank Holidays + birthday leave + Christmas Eve, Wellbeing Day, a contributory pension scheme, life insurance and occupational health screening.
