Job description

A1 Jobs have an immediate need for a Fabrication/Machine Shop Supervisor to join our clients thriving team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a skilled team of welders and machine operators.
  • Operate and specialise in conventional horizontal boring (e.g. SH75 Kerns Richard).
  • Use a variety of machine tools: lathe, milling machine, drill, etc.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and work to precise engineering tolerances.
  • Carry out self-inspection throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain clean, organised work areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and help implement standard procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a machine operator with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Skilled in horizontal boring and confident in reading technical drawings.
  • Positive, team-focused attitude, promoting collaboration and quality.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on safety and performance.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience operating a Kerns Richard SH75 or similar boring machine.
  • Valid counterbalance forklift licence.
  • Experience using overhead cranes for loading/unloading.
  • Familiar with machine shop safety standards and procedures.
