We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fabric Technologist to join our team. This role will focus on ensuring bulk fabric approvals, testing, and care label development during the pre-production stages. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in textiles and a thorough understanding of fabric performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Bulk Fabric Approvals: Oversee the bulk fabric approval process to ensure all materials meet the company’s quality standards. Work closely with the product development team to ensure that all fabric information is correctly handed over and documented. Review and approve fabric samples for production, ensuring consistency in colour, texture, and performance.
Fabric Testing: Develop and implement fabric testing protocols to ensure all materials meet necessary performance standards. Coordinate with external laboratories for specialized testing such as tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and colourfastness. Interpret test results and provide recommendations to address any issues.
Care Labels: Develop and approve care labels for all garments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Work with the production team to ensure care labels are accurately placed and communicated on all products. Stay updated on global regulations and standards for textile labelling.
Pre-Production Coordination: Manage the pre-production fabric testing and approval process, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve any fabric-related issues before production. Maintain detailed records of fabric approvals, test results, and care label specifications.
Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks on bulk fabrics to ensure they meet the approved standards. Address any quality issues with suppliers promptly to minimize production disruptions. Implement corrective actions for any identified fabric defects or inconsistencies.
Research and Development: Stay informed about new fabric technologies, innovations, and trends in the textile industry. Recommend new materials and techniques to improve the quality and performance of the company’s products. Conduct fabric trials and evaluations to support the development of new collections.
