Fabric Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fabric Technician to join our team in Bishops Stortford. The successful candidate will be responsible for reactive works, maintenance, and minor projects, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and within agreed timescales.

Responsibilities

1. Respond to reactive works within the team.
2. Ensure maintenance tasks are completed within agreed timescales.
3. Liaise with client representatives regarding maintenance and repair tasks.
4. Undertake site surveys and produce works requests, method statements, and risk assessments for planned works.
5. Repair floor and wall coverings.
6. Responsible for ceiling tile repairs and replacements.
7. Perform other building and installation works as required.
8. Manage lighting, lamp changes, filter changes for AHUs/FCUs, and basic plumbing requirements.
9. Utilise PDA devices to complete works, communicate, and update progress.
10. Complete reactive, PPM jobs, and projects in a timely manner.
11. Undertake minor project works.
12. Ensure all works adhere to Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
13. Perform all reasonable tasks as directed by the Technical Services Manager.

Requirements

• Previous experience in fabric and carpentry work.
• Experience working in high-profile environments.
• City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent in carpentry.
• Current UK driving license.
• Proficiency in PC use.
• Good customer relationship skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, instructions, and processes.
• Organizational skills to manage tasks and determine material requirements.
• Knowledge of H&S procedures, including COSHH, working at heights, and risk assessments.
• Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH and/or NEBOSH.
• Willingness to work beyond contractual hours as needed.
