A leading company in the Building Fabric industry is seeking a Fabric Technician to cover the West Yorkshire area. The successful applicant will be an expert contact for end users, ensuring safety and security within multiple sites. This permanent, full-time role involves a 37.5 hour workweek, with additional standby allowances and overtime pay. Candidates must possess practical carpentry skills and effective communication abilities, along with a clean UK driving license.
Salary: £31,453.09 per annum (dependent upon skills and experience), plus standby allowance c£260 per week when on rota, and appropriate overtime rate when attending calls. 22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 with 5 years' service, plus bank holidays.
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Typical hours are 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will join an out-of-hours callout rota 1 in 5/6 weeks covering a wider area. Flexibility around attendance is essential.
Coverage includes postcodes LS (Leeds), BD (Bradford), HD (Huddersfield), HX (Halifax), and WF (Wakefield).
You will be the primary contact for end users or main customers, working closely with colleagues including Building Engineering Technicians, Asset Technicians, and Fabric Team Managers. You will provide expert knowledge of the Building Fabric industry, ensuring a first-class service to keep premises secure and safe. Your skills and technical knowledge will be applied to a variety of situations requiring judgment and experience to solve fabric-related issues or complete projects. Compliance with RMPFS health and safety policies is mandatory to ensure safety of colleagues, customers, and the public.
We seek someone computer literate, especially in electronic management systems and email, with effective communication skills to actively listen and convey important messages at all levels. Practical experience in carpentry and wet trades, along with good knowledge of Building Fabric products, is required. A full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points is also necessary.
