Role Description

We are looking for a hands‑on Fabric Data Engineer to build, operate and improve Airswift’s enterprise data platform in Microsoft Fabric. Reporting to the Cloud Solution Architect, you will turn data architecture and business requirements into reliable ingestion, transformation and serving patterns across OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse workloads.

This is a delivery and operations role spanning data engineering, integration, quality, governance and production support. You will work closely with the internal data, business solutions, cloud, security, and AI teams, and with our delivery partner, Storm, to move priority workstreams into sustainable operational support. The role will complement the Azure Cloud Engineer, who will own the underlying Azure foundation, identity, connectivity and deployment rails.

Principle Accountabilities:
Fabric platform and data engineering
  • Build and operate Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions using OneLake and the medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
  • Develop and maintain Fabric Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark Notebooks and repeatable ingestion patterns for structured and semi-structured data.
  • Design scalable transformations using SQL and PySpark, with appropriate partitioning, incremental processing, performance tuning, and error handling.
Integration and migration
  • Integrate data from core platforms including Dynamics 365, Bullhorn, OneStream, Power Platform, Azure SQL, APIs, files, and third‑party services.
  • Support the migration and refactoring of legacy data warehouse, reporting, and operational integration workloads into Fabric.
  • Work with source‑system owners and partners to understand dependencies, data contracts, lineage, change patterns, and operational constraints before migration.
Data modelling, quality and governance
  • Create curated, business‑ready data products and semantic models that support Power BI, operational processes, Copilot, and future AI services.
  • Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, exception handling, lineage, and traceability across data pipelines and products.
  • Apply naming, metadata, workspace, access, retention, and lifecycle standards in partnership with data governance and security colleagues.
DevOps, monitoring and operational support
  • Use Git integration and CI/CD practices to promote Fabric artefacts across development, test, and production environments.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and support runbooks for pipelines, notebooks, capacities, and data products.
  • Investigate incidents and performance issues, complete root‑cause analysis and deliver preventative improvements.
  • Manage Fabric capacity and workload performance with clear visibility of consumption, cost, and operational risk.
Delivery and collaboration
  • Translate business outcomes into technical backlog items, acceptance criteria, and deliverable data products.
  • Pair with Storm engineers and internal colleagues to ensure knowledge transfer, maintainability, and clear ownership of delivered solutions.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, data mappings, lineage records and support guidance.
  • Contribute to design reviews and challenge approaches that create avoidable technical debt, security risk, or unsupported operational dependencies.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Essential
  • Strong hands‑on experience in data engineering using Microsoft Fabric or comparable Azure data services.
  • Practical experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Data Pipelines and notebooks.
  • Strong SQL skills and practical experience developing transformations in PySpark or Python.
  • Experience designing ETL or ELT pipelines, incremental loads, orchestration, reconciliation, and failure handling.
  • Experience integrating cloud services, relational databases, APIs, and file‑based sources.
  • Understanding of medallion architecture, dimensional modelling, semantic models and data product design.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD and environment promotion for data solutions.
  • Working knowledge of data security, role‑based access, privacy, lineage, retention, and governance controls.
  • Experience supporting production data platforms, including monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work across engineering, architecture, security, business teams and external partners.
Desirable
  • Microsoft certification such as DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer Associate; DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate is also advantageous.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365, Dataverse, OneStream, Bullhorn, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with Power BI, Direct Lake, semantic models and DAX.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Eventstreams, Real‑Time Intelligence, or Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience migrating legacy data warehouse or operational integration workloads into Fabric.
  • Exposure to data platforms that support Copilot, AI agents or machine‑learning use cases.
  • Experience working in a regulated or globally distributed organisation.
What we can offer you!
  • Attractive monthly base salary + competitive commission/performance bonus.
  • Genuine career progression opportunities, either locally or globally!
  • World‑class training programmes and development opportunities.
  • Team driven environment, supportive culture with a focus on work‑life balance.

  • Real time recognition through our employee reward platform.
  • Mental Health First Aiders to signpost you to support when you need it.
