Qualifications

• Relevant building services experience in fabric reactive and planned maintenance.
• Experience healthcare projects would be an advantage.
• Appropriate experience/qualification in fire door inspection and maintenance or willing to train.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive, reactive maintenance on windows, doors, roof, flooring, walls and furniture.
• Perform minor repairs to block paving, drop kerbs, fencing and street furniture.
• Complete new installations of worktops, cupboard units, shelving, dry lining systems.

What is the overall job?

This role will be based at Peterborough City Hospital. Peterborough City Hospital is now regarded as the City's most significant building project since the cathedral was built in 1238. The healthcare campus features: a 612-bed, 22-theatre Major Acute Hospital; a 98-bed Mental Health Unit; a 39-bed City Care Centre; a multi storey car park; helicopter pad; hard and soft landscaping and highway works. You will be based on site with an option for some remote working.

The Fabric Craftsman will report to and work closely with the Maintenance Supervision relating to the building fabric operations at Peterborough City Hospital, The Cavell Centre, and City Care Centre. You will be responsible for providing support to the Fabric Maintenance Team in the delivery of the hard facilities management service, performing the role as Building Fabric Craftsman. Other Key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out planned preventive, reactive maintenance on windows, doors, roof, flooring, walls furniture, fixtures, upholstery MF suspended ceilings, and various types of locks.
• Carry out minor repairs to block paving, drop kerbs, fencing and street furniture.
• Ability to complete new installations of worktops, cupboard units, shelving, dry lining systems.
• Ability to organise and prioritise own workload, where required, and work unsupervised.
• Must demonstrate total commitment, versatility and flexibility whilst undertaking all tasks and delegated work as instructed by Team Leaders and Supervisors

What do I need to be successful in this role?

• Relevant building services experience in fabric reactive and planned maintenance.
• Experience healthcare projects would be an advantage
• Ability and willingness to learn and have a “can do” attitude
• Appropriate experience/qualification in fire door inspection and maintenance or willing to train.
• Experience in Sarnafil roofing, Tarkett or Altro flooring would be advantageous.
