Job description

Job Title: Building Services Fabric Bias Multi–Skilled EngineerDepartment: Estates and Facilities – OperationsReports to: Assistant Campus Maintenance ManagerLocation: Multiple sites across LondonContract Type: Full–time, PermanentWork Pattern:

  • Day Shift: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday (07:00–16:00 or 10:00–19:00, rotating)
  • Night Shift: 42 hours/week, 4 on 4 off (19:00–07:00), including weekends and public holidays
Salary:
  • Day Shift: GBP45,101 – GBP52,542 per annum
  • Night Shift: Includes a shift allowance of GBP4,109.78 per annum
About the Role

We are seeking experienced and motivated Multi–Skilled Engineers with a fabric bias to join a leading London–based higher education institution. These roles are essential to delivering reliable maintenance engineering services across hard and soft facilities, supporting the institution's strategic goals and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and efficient environment for staff and students.

Positions are available at campuses located in Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square.

About You

You will be a skilled professional with a strong background in fabric maintenance, capable of working independently and collaboratively. You will have a passion for delivering high–quality maintenance services and experience working alongside contractors.

Key Requirements:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Carpentry/Painting or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Hot and Cold Water System (L8) certification (desirable)
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and SOP/EOP development
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance
  • Excellent communication, problem–solving, and influencing skills
  • Ability to attend site within 2 hours when on standby
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
Additional Information
  • Day Shift roles include participation in a standby rota (with standby and attendance payments).
  • Night Shift roles follow a 4–on, 4–off pattern and include a shift allowance.
