A local council in Scotland is seeking Personnel Officers to join their HR team. The role focuses on absence management and general HR operations, supporting managers and employees across various HR functions. Ideal candidates will possess strong planning and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in HR. A CIPD qualification is desirable but equivalent experience is acceptable. Full training will be provided.

South Lanarkshire Council is offering exciting opportunities for Personnel Officers to join our HR team, with roles available in both absence management and HR operations.
You will join a dynamic and supportive team, contributing to the delivery of a high-quality HR service across the council. Depending on your experience and interest, you may be placed in one of the following areas:
You will support managers in implementing our holistic Maximising Attendance Policy, offering professional guidance and contributing to improvements in attendance practices. You will liaise with employees, managers, HR business partners, occupational health, employee support, and trade unions to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to absence.
You will provide expert support on a wide range of employee relations matters, including discipline, grievance, recruitment, and terms and conditions. You will lead investigations, represent Personnel Services at hearings and meetings, and work collaboratively with colleagues across HR, L&D, and Health & Safety.
We are seeking highly organised and motivated individuals who can make an immediate and positive impact. You should have:
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage multiple systems and analyse data
Experience supporting managers and employees in a fast-paced HR environment
Knowledge of absence management and employee relations processes
A CIPD qualification is desirable, but equivalent experience in operational personnel delivery will also be considered. Full training and support will be provided.
