An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Lanarkshire Council’s Chief Executive’s Office within the Communications and Strategy service, and we are seeking to recruit a Digital Officer (Team Leader).
You will be required to drive effective digital content creation across all council platforms, implement and review digital software, systems and processes, be capable of budget management and have a key role in driving digital transformation for the Council’s Communication and Strategy functions.
Experience in managing website, intranet and social media content to meet accessibility standards is an essential requirement of this post and you will be expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of the WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and their practical implications for digital content and services. Familiarity with tools such as Siteimprove, used to monitor and enhance accessibility compliance, is highly desirable. In addition, knowledge of assistive technologies—including screen readers, voice recognition software, keyboard navigation, and alternative input devices—will be beneficial in ensuring inclusive digital experiences.
Experience working with a content management systems (CMS) is required and experience with the Jadu CMS is preferred, as it aligns with our current digital infrastructure. You will be involved in developing and contributing to our new website and intranet and any other emerging technologies.
You should also be able to demonstrate excellent written, communication, project planning, organisational and networking skills as well as the ability to effectively protect the council’s reputation, apply council policies. You will be required to coordinate the digital teams workload to meet deadlines. You should have excellent IT skills and be able to manage and provide reporting and monitoring data/ trends related to digital formats, be dynamic and creative and forward thinking, with the ability to resolve problems as they arise. Successful applicant will be required to be flexible in approach in dealing with Communications and Strategies requirements.
