Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting an EYFS Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term temporary role starting September 2026 in a nurturing early years environment. The position involves supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing, closely with teaching staff to implement the EYFS framework.

You will assist with structured and child-led activities, support language and play, maintain safeguarding standards, and help with daily routines.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and early years staff.
  • Observe and share information about children’s progress with the teaching team.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement.
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times.

EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026

EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026

This EYFS Teaching Assistant role offers a full-time, long-term opportunity within a supportive early years setting from September 2026. The EYFS Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support children’s learning, development, and well-being during a vital stage of their education. This role is ideal for a caring and committed EYFS Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with young children and contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Duties as EYFS Teaching Assistant:
  • Support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support early communication, language, and play-based learning
  • Assist with structured and child-led activities
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
