Job description

The St John Paul II Multi Academy is a highly successful Catholic Multi Academy encompassing twelve Primary Schools and two Secondary Schools. Our schools are based in the northern area of Birmingham.

The ethos of St John Paul II Multi Academy is Catholic and was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for children of Catholic families. As a Catholic Multi Academy, we aim to provide a Catholic education for all our pupils. It is essential that the Catholic character of the school’s education be fully supported by all staff within the multi academy. We therefore hope that all staff will give their full, unreserved and positive support for the aims and ethos of the St John Paul II Multi Academy.

Abbey Catholic Primary School is a thriving, oversubscribed two-form entry primary school rooted in the Parish of St. Thomas and Edmund of Campion, affectionately known as Erdington Abbey.
Our school’s mission, “Learning to Follow in the Footsteps of Jesus with our Friends, Family and Parish,” is at the heart of everything we do. This mission is lived out daily through our strong Catholic ethos and enriched by our distinctive Foundation curriculum, Building the Kingdom, which uniquely integrates Catholic Social Teaching into subjects like History, Geography, and English. We nurture a warm, inclusive environment where pupils thrive spiritually, academically and socially.
We are now seeking a passionate and dedicated EYFS Class Teacher to join our committed school community. This role includes an additional responsibility (TLR2a) for EYFS Leadership, offering an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is ready to lead, inspire and drive improvement across the school.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality, engaging learning experiences that inspire and support all children to achieve their full potential.

Plan, teach, assess and adapt learning in line with the EYFS Statutory Framework, ensuring children make strong progress across all areas of learning and development.

Assess, record and report on children's attainment, progress and wellbeing, using assessment to inform outstanding provision.

Create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence and a love of learning.

Lead and develop the Early Years Foundation Stage, including curriculum design, monitoring standards, supporting colleagues and driving continuous improvement across the phase (TLR2a).

Ensure high-quality indoor and outdoor learning environments that reflect best practice in early years education.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, leaders and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for all children.

Build strong partnerships with parents and carers, supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.

Contribute actively to the Catholic life and ethos of the school and participate fully in the wider school community.

We are looking for a teacher who is:
  • Passionate about early years education and committed to providing the very best start to children's learning journey.
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of child development and effective EYFS pedagogy.
  • Experienced, or aspiring, in leading EYFS and driving high standards of teaching, learning and provision.
  • Knowledgeable about the EYFS Statutory Framework and current developments in early years education.
  • Reflective, resilient and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Skilled at building positive and supportive relationships with children, families, colleagues and the wider community.
  • Able to inspire, motivate and support others through effective leadership and teamwork.
  • Committed to promoting and supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Eager to contribute to our Catholic ethos and wider school life.

If you are ready to make a meaningful impact in a school where faith, community and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, we would love to hear from you.
