Job summary

Reed is seeking an EYFS & 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in the Wyre area. The role blends general EYFS support with targeted 1:1 help for a preschool child with additional needs, available immediately or from September.

The post is part-time (15 hours per week) with days and pattern agreed with the Headteacher. Ideal candidates will have EYFS experience, strong communication, safeguarding commitment, and flexibility across ages. Training opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children aged 3-5 in EYFS/nursery/preschool.
• Patient, caring and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Flexibility to support across different age groups when required.
• Desirable: Level 2 TA, EYFS knowledge, Paediatric First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Provide EYFS support by assisting the class teacher and EYFS team with engaging activities.
• Deliver both adult-led and child-initiated learning to support development.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social development.
• Observe progress and contribute to developmental records.
• Prepare resources and learning environments for indoor and outdoor activities.
• Provide 1:1 support for a preschool child with additional needs and tailor approaches accordingly.
• Support safeguarding and welfare of all children and assist across KS1 when required.

• Location: Wyre Area
• Start Date: Immediate or September Start Available
• Hours: 15 hours per week (days and working pattern to be agreed with the Headteacher)
• Salary: TA1/TA2 Grade (Competitive, dependent on experience)
• Job Type: Part-time, Long-term

Join a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Wyre area as an EYFS & 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to nurturing and supporting early years education, combining general EYFS support with targeted 1:1 assistance for a preschool child with additional needs.

Day-to-day of the role:

• EYFS Support (10 Hours Per Week):

  • Assist the class teacher and EYFS team in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Support children's learning and development through both adult-led and child-initiated activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe and support children's progress and contribute to developmental records.
  • Assist with preparing resources and learning environments for indoor and outdoor activities.

• 1:1 Child Support (Approximately 5 Hours Per Week):

  • Provide consistent and individualised support tailored to the child's specific needs.
  • Support communication, engagement, and participation in learning activities.
  • Assist with personal care and physical needs as required.
  • Help the child access the curriculum and integrate successfully into preschool activities.
  • Implement support strategies and targets agreed by the school and external professionals.
  • Build a positive, nurturing, and trusting relationship with the child and their family.

• Additional Duties:

  • Provide support within Key Stage 1 (KS1) when required.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all children.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working with children aged 3-5 years in an EYFS, nursery, preschool, school, or childcare setting.
• A patient, caring, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Flexibility and willingness to support across different age groups when required.
• Desirable: Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification, experience supporting children with additional needs, knowledge of the EYFS Framework, Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
