Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter with proven track record in a similar role along with processing experience and knowledge of fault rectification within PVC Extrusion is required for a leading manufacturer based in Hyde, Tameside, Greater Manchester, North West England.

WORKING HOURS: 36 Hours per WeekMonday to Thursday 21:00 – 06:00 (30 Minutes Paid Lunch Break)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter with proven track record in a similar role along with processing experience and knowledge of fault rectification within PVC Extrusion.

Working as an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter you will be responsible for setting, running and monitoring the PVC Extrusion Line for bespoke products. The role will be varied and will involve a ‘hands on’ approach implementing production programmes with agreed quality and speed parameters.

As an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter you must be hard working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment and work well under pressure. Your role will involve understanding dimensional checks and working to close tolerances is essential. Recording quality results and visual inspection will be part of the day-to-day role and altering machine parameters if necessary, with occasional die cleaning and tool changes.

DUTIES

Your duties as an Extrusion Manufacturing Operative / PVC Machine Operator and Setter will include:

  • Machine Operation & Setup: Setting and operating extrusion machines to produce a range of plastic profiles
  • Quality Control: Performing continuous inspection and testing of products to ensure they meet the company’s high-quality standards. This involves monitoring machine settings, material processing techniques, and packaging
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Using your fault-finding skills to resolve machine and material issues, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. You'll also conduct regular checks on ancillary equipment, such as water heaters and cooling systems
  • Material & Stock Management: Accurately identifying and handling different material types and colours, monitoring raw material levels, and correctly processing stock movement data
  • Health & Safety: Adhering to all company health and safety standards, including the use of safety guards, emergency stops, and proper equipment handling. You'll also be expected to maintain a clean and tidy workspace
  • Tooling: Interpreting tool lists for correct identification and compatibility, recording machine setup data, and carrying out minor tool maintenance and cleaning
  • Physical Duties: Safely handling and transporting raw materials, finished goods, and extrusion tools, including some physical lifting of up to 25kg bags
