Job Description

In Q4 2023, Intel announced Altera will be reported as a separate business unit beginning on January 1, 2024, with ongoing support from Intel. This position aligns with that standalone business strategy and is expected to fully transition to a standalone company in the future.

Altera delivers cutting-edge custom logic solutions across various markets. To support our customers in developing innovative solutions, we are expanding our European Applications Engineering team with a motivated External Memory Interfaces Applications Engineer.

As an EMIF IP applications engineer, you will serve as a technical expert for memory protocols, providing customer solutions and debugging support to help European customers meet market demands. We value technical excellence, customer focus, integrity, and teamwork.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with field engineering and customer design teams to assist in designing, implementing, and verifying External Memory Interfaces in high-performance FPGAs using Intel and third-party software like Quartus, ModelSim, Questasim, etc.
  • Performing design evaluations and recommending strategies for optimization.
  • Developing technical collateral such as reference designs and presentations.
  • Evaluating new software/IP and providing feedback for improvements.
  • Anticipating future customer needs and contributing to product planning.
  • Developing designs for next-generation memory IPs, including DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, LPDDR5, QDR-IV, and HBM2.
  • Testing new features and demonstrating performance to European customers.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams for issue resolution and providing feedback on memory IP quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of FPGA or ASIC design experience.
  • Experience with FPGA/ASIC VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, and verification tools.
  • Proficient in English.

Preferred Experience:

  • Design experience with high-performance External Memory Interface controllers and protocols like DDR3/DDR4 SDRAM, QDR-IV SRAM.
  • Experience in high-speed digital signal integrity and signal behavior.
  • Use of laboratory equipment like high-speed oscilloscopes and memory software tools.
