A leading global defence technology company is seeking an External Communications & Marketing Manager in Sheffield. This role involves managing communications, stakeholder engagement, and brand marketing strategies. Salary: £60,000+ dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the planning and execution of external communications, marketing campaigns and activities
Managing stakeholder engagement and building effective relationships with strategic industry external partners
Developing and delivering content across a range of channels, including digital, social media, sponsorship, and events, to promote a positive brand image internally and externally
Collaborating with internal teams to capture compelling content for the business unit to create engaging materials for digital platforms
Leading media relations activities for the business unit including media pitching, developing press materials, press engagements, executive media training and support, and acting as the spokesperson when required.
Creating presentation materials for use at key events, including exhibitions, sponsorships, trade shows and internal communications initiatives
Your skills and experiences:
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related marketing/communications discipline with proven experience in external communications and brand management
Proven ability in communication and the creation of high-quality content, including speeches and executive-level messaging
Expertise in utilising communication tools and platforms to improve engagement and brand attraction
Ability to develop and implement ideas to improve audience engagement and attraction

The Communications & Marketing team:
As part of BAE Systems Platforms and Services sector, Weapon Systems (UK) designs, develops, manufactures, and supports artillery systems, naval guns, and provides engineering capability to the wider BAE Systems business. Our global reach brings our customers a depth and breadth of expertise that meet critical needs in the air, on land, and at sea.
This is a newly created role at an incredibly exciting time in our business. We’re expanding rapidly and growing from a single-site operation to a multi-site, including a brand-new production facility in Sheffield. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders across all levels and will play a central part in shaping and delivering our external communications strategy.
