External Affairs - Nations and Regions Manager

Join to apply for the External Affairs - Nations and Regions Manager role at UKAS.

If you are passionate about building trust and confidence in the UK’s markets and public policy, UKAS is seeking a dynamic Nations and Regions Manager to lead our engagement and policy activities. This role focuses on Scotland and also covers Wales, Northern Ireland, and the devolved areas of England.

This is your opportunity to play a key role in delivering UKAS’s External Affairs strategy by establishing effective partnerships with governments, policymakers, and stakeholders across UK nations and regions.

As part of UKAS’s small, dedicated External Affairs team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading efforts to expand UKAS’s presence in Scotland and establishing it as a trusted partner to the Scottish Government.
  • Developing and executing a strategic plan to increase awareness of accreditation’s value.
  • Identifying public policy initiatives where accreditation can add value and ensuring its consideration in relevant schemes and initiatives.
  • Building UKAS’s presence in the Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish parliaments.
  • Monitoring political and policy developments, crafting insightful positions, and identifying opportunities to enhance UKAS’s influence.
  • Organizing impactful meetings, round tables, and events to promote UKAS, accreditation, and quality infrastructure.

**What We’re Looking For:**

  • Strong knowledge of Scottish politics and government, with existing contacts.
  • Experience working with Scottish Government or related agencies.
  • A solid understanding of political, economic, societal, and technological trends in Scotland and other UK regions.
  • Proven skills in messaging, engagement campaigns, and stakeholder outreach.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays, to attend meetings, events, and visit the head office as needed.

This is a full-time, home-based role based in Scotland.
