Job summary

Wantage CE Primary School is seeking a warm, caring after-school wraparound care assistant to join our team. This flexible role supports the Extended Provision Supervisor and helps provide a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children after the school day.

You should be aged 17 or over, enjoy working with children, and be reliable, patient and a team player. Training in safeguarding and food hygiene may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard children during after-school period and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Support the Extended Provision Supervisor and team with daily operations.
• Prepare and assist with age-appropriate play and activities.
• Engage positively with children and support their play.
• Supervise children and maintain safety at all times.
• Communicate with children, parents and colleagues appropriately.
• Assist with registers and ensure safe collection by authorised adults.
• Prepare and serve meals and snacks following hygiene procedures.
• Set up, tidy and store activities, equipment and resources.

Working hours: Flexible days, Monday to Friday, between 3:00 pm and 6:15 pm
Hours per week: Up to 15 hours

We are looking for a warm, caring and enthusiastic individual to join our after-school wraparound care provision at Wantage CE Primary School.

This is a flexible role offering up to 15 hours per week. Working alongside the Extended Provision Supervisor and our supportive team, the successful candidate will help provide a welcoming, enjoyable and nurturing environment in which children can relax, play and take part in engaging activities at the end of the school day.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Safeguarding children throughout the after-school period and following the school's safeguarding procedures;
• Supporting the Extended Provision Supervisor and other members of the team with the day-to-day running of the provision;
• Preparing and assisting with a range of age-appropriate play and recreational activities;
• Engaging positively with children and supporting them in their play;
• Supervising children and maintaining their safety at all times;
• Promoting positive behaviour in accordance with the school's behaviour policy;
• Assisting with registers and ensuring that children are safely collected by authorised adults;
• Preparing and serving meals and snacks while following food hygiene and allergy procedures;
• Setting up, tidying, and safely storing activities, equipment and resources;
• Communicating appropriately with children, parents, carers and colleagues;
• Reporting accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or changes in a child's wellbeing to the Extended Provision Supervisor;
• Following all school safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality policies.

You should:

Previous experience of working with or caring for children would be desirable, but is not essential. Relevant training may be provided.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive staff team at Wantage CE Primary School and will play an important role in providing high-quality care for our children at the end of the school day.
