A local medical center in Sheffield is seeking a part-time receptionist to join their dynamic team. This role offers a flexible working schedule every Wednesday evening and various weekends throughout the year. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in an NHS environment. The position involves various administrative duties to ensure smooth operation and patient assistance. This is a fixed-term contract beginning in January 2026.
We are looking torecruit a receptionist to work in our extended access hub every Wednesdaybetween 6.30pm 9.30pm and 11 weekends each year (a weekend is Friday 6.30pm-8.30pmand Saturday 9am 5pm). All rotas are planned well in advance.
Weekends are, on averagemonthly.
This position is a 15 monthfixed term contract starting in January 2026 until 31 March 2027.
The extended access hubis an extension of our day in General Practice in which doctors, nurses andother health professionals consult with patients after the main surgery isclosed.
This is an excitingopportunity for a student who wants to work a few hours a week and a fewweekends a year or someone whos already employed who wants to earn some extramoney.
Offer general assistance to the practice teamand project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors,either in person or via the telephone.
Receive, assist and direct patients inaccessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,efficient and effective way.
Undertake a variety of administrative duties toassist in the smooth running of the practice.
Facilitate effective communication between patients,members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associatedhealthcare agencies
You will be joining ourfriendly, progressive team based in a dynamic Medical Centre in Sheffield. Wehave a strong focus on high quality patient care and working as a team.
Our premises are modern,and purpose built. Our team consists of 4 Partners, 7 Salaried GP's and a wellestablished Nursing team including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, PracticeNurses, First Contact Practitioner and Healthcare Assistants.
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken bymembers of the practice administration team may include any or all of the itemsin the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under thedirection of the Practice / Assistant Practice Manager, dependent on currentand evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
Maintaining and monitoring the practiceappointments system
Arranging for transport of samples for the labs
Taking messages and passing on information
Receiving appointment bookings from otherpractices and the OOH service
Filing and retrieving paperwork / notes
Scanning and matching patient documentation
Computer data entry/data allocation andcollation; processing and recording information in accordance withpractice procedures
Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member andassociated healthcare agencies and providers
Clearingand re-stocking consulting rooms of Satellite equipment and stock as required
Providingclerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, includingword/data processing, filing, photocopying, faxing and scanning
Dealingwith clinical and shredding waste and operatives
Provisionof refreshments for staff and visitors as required
Keepingthe reception area tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Arrangingtransport for patients where appropriate
