Job description

Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) is the only single-site forge globally with capabilities including open-die radial, press, hammer & ring rolling, as well as closed-die extrusion, drop stamp, and blade forging. We have invested significantly in recent years, successfully doubling our turnover, and are seeking to expand our established team.

Due to ongoing growth, we are looking to add an experienced Export-Import Coordinator to our Logistics team. This is a regular days position, working 37 hours per week, with additional hours potentially required at month-end.

The Role

The Export-Import Coordinator manages international shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating with stakeholders for timely delivery, and handling detailed documentation, including liaising with freight forwarders and customs brokers.

You will
  • Coordinate and monitor all export and import shipments via air, sea, and land.
  • Prepare and review customs documentation such as invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
  • Ensure adherence to trade laws, export controls, and company policies.
  • Utilize inward processing (IPR) procedures for certain imports.
  • Work with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to schedule and track shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipping transactions and documentation.
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, warehousing, and finance teams to optimize shipping processes.
  • Address issues like delays, customs clearance problems, and documentation errors.
  • Advise on duties, tariffs, and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor shipping costs and seek cost-saving opportunities.
  • Stay updated on trade regulation changes and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in export/import coordination or international logistics.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, trade regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Business Central.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple shipments and deadlines under pressure.
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and leading meetings.
Desirable
  • Certification in international trade or logistics (e.g., ITOPS).
  • Understanding of UK-EU trade agreements and origin declarations.
  • Knowledge of UK export control regulations and export licenses.
