The overview of the role

The Export Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing key business opportunities and relationships in the Global Export segment.

The role requires a proactive and strategic approach to generate new business, maintain, and expand existing accounts, and explore international market trends to ensure continued growth.

The role is 80% business development and 20% account management, plus a willingness to travel globally.

Expectations of the role
  • Show initiative and be very self-motivated with exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in business development/sales within the manufacturing export industry, with full training and support given.
  • Able to build business relationships from scratch and 'knock on the door'.
  • A ‘can do’ positive attitude, determined approach, and strong interpersonal skills are key.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations, export documentation, and supply chain logistics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interactive skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SAP, and other relevant business tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Multilingual skills are a benefit, although not essential.
  • Home-based with regular European and International travel.
